Mobility is not just about In-Building Wireless. In fact, we define four work modes that characterize the different requirements and work styles of users that encompass all forms of mobile communications, where integration with the coporate phone system is vital. The diversity and mix of users that fall into these four categories will of course vary by industry sector, organization type and even geographic region. However, research shows that these work modes provide an excellent template for mapping user needs in most organizations with the range of available mobility solutions that Dictronics can provide.

Road Warriors spend most of their time off-premise and on the move. Sales and service personnel are classic examples. They rely on cellular communications networks as their way of keeping in touch and need to be able to access their voicemail.

Teleworkers are typically remote knowledge workers that have a fixed work location (e.g. a home office, hot desk in a serviced office) and need their remote workstation provide the same capabilities as if they were sat at their main office location.

Campus Nomads have office-oriented roles, typically working at corporate headquarters or campus environments for public or private sector organizations. These workers roles require them to be frequently absent from their desk during the work-day, but with a need to be constantly contactable.

Hot Deskers are often in supervisory or management roles that require them to frequently work from different locations. Wherever they are base on whatever day of the week, they expect a consistent communications experience, irrespective of their location. For example, they expect their office extension profile to follow them, wherever or however they happen to connect to the network.

Users need to be productive, accessible and accessible by one number and the solutions must be easy to use. IT is concerned with leveraging their existing infrastructure, security, controlling cost, and are concerned with managing multiple vendor solutions.
